This model has now been superseded by the Flux Viscopower F580.

If you require spare parts for this model, please contact us as these are still available.

The Flux F550S eccentric worm drive drum pump, is designed to transfer highly viscous fluids up to 80,000 CP and even process paste-like fluids from drum or IBC, such as pastes, soaps, paints and adhesives. Equipped with a robust bearing flange that provides additional support, this barrel pump is perfect for continuously running applications. Due to the progressive cavity style design, this high viscosity pump provides smooth flow at constant pressure, ensuring little disruption to the pumped product and offering low shear liquid transfer. The F550S viscous fluid pump can be used in fixed installations, but also it is a portable pumping solution that can be easily moved between drums and IBCS. Easy to disassemble and clean, this Flux barrel pump is a perfect solution for many industrial applications.

The stator of the F550S barrel pump can be supplied in various materials, making it a versatile solution for any application involving transferring high viscosity fluids. This Flux electric drum pump can handle fluids containing solids up to 8mm and is also available with ATEX certification for flammable fluids or environment. The motor options for these drum pumps include three-phase electric motors and air motors, and the sealing options include a mechanical seal or stuffing box.

The F550S barrel pump is known as a progressive cavity or eccentric worm drive pump, able to transfer high viscosity fluids from a barrel or IBC. As a Flux pumps supplier, we can supply this viscous fluid pump with an electric or compressed air motor.

  • High-quality barrel pump – Flux pumps are well known German-made barrel pumps that have been in the market for over 70 years.
  • Wide viscosity range - This electric drum pump for chemicals can handle both low and high viscosity fluids up to 80,000cP, making it an ideal solution for transferring even paste-like fluids.
  • Solids – Flux F550S barrel pump can handle hard and soft solid particles up to 8 mm in diameter.
  • Suitable for shear-sensitive liquids - This high viscosity pump has a smooth flow at constant pressure offering low shear, pulsation-free liquid transfer.
  • Easy to disassemble and move - The F550S can be easily taken apart for cleaning, and due to the lightweight design, it can be quickly moved between barrels and IBCs.

This Flux pump is a versatile pumping solution for a range of industrial applications involving viscous, shear sensitive fluids with solids. Due to its unique features, this electric barrel pump can provide smooth pumping and low wear as there are no valves, vanes etc.

FAQs

Put most simply, a barrel pump, is a pump connected to an immersion tube that sits within the drum with its motor located outside of the container. The pump draws up the fluid through its immersion tube and is then dispensed via a hose or pipe that is connected to its outlet.

If you have a 1000 litre IBC you will require a 1200mm tube, a 205 litre drum requires a 1000mm and if you have a smaller container 700mm and shorter tubes are available. For larger containers we can offer longer tube sets on specification

If your fluid is prone to crystallisation, then you can use the F310 or F430 models as the pump bearings are protected from wear.

The F425 model is capable of emptying 99.98% of a container's contents. This drum pump is generally selected when the liquid is particularly valuable to minimise waste.

The F426 model is capable of both mixing and pumping the liquid within the container, which is a lower cost solution when compared to a separate mixer and pump.

For liquids with a flashpoint below 50°C, we offer our Stainless Steel F400 models and Viscopower series with ATEX approved motors or Viscoflux Lite EX.

Our range includes both FDA and 3A approved hygienic models. When the viscosity is >1200cP we offer the sanitary Viscopower F570 and F580 models and the Viscoflux Mobile. If <1200cP we typically select the F427, or the F430 food grade version when pumping alcohols or foodstuff with solids.

If you are pumping one liquid or very similar liquids, you can use the F314 or F424 seal-less models, if you are pumping multiple diferent liquids or where cross contamination is not desirable use the F310 or F430 drum pumps.

To ensure you get the correct Flux spare parts, we need to identify the exact Flux pump model you have. Please provide the model and serial number found on the pump name plate.

Castle Pumps can supply all Flux pump parts detailed on the spare parts list including motor, o-ring, shaft seal, impeller, inner and outer tube worldwide.

If you are pumping one liquid or very similar liquids, you can use the F314 or F424 seal-less models provided that the materials are compatible, if you are pumping multiple diferent liquids or where cross contamination is not desirable use the F310 or F430 drum pumps.

The general rule of thumb is that for low-medium duty applications where viscosity is <250cP the F300 is sufficient. For heavy duty applications, flammable liquids and viscosities of <1200cP choose the F400. For shear sensitive fluids or viscosities that exceed 1200cP then the Viscpower is required. Upon disclosure of your application, we can confirm the best solution.

All Flux barrel and IBC pump models are available with additional accessories that we can supply as a kit should you need delivery hose, a trigger nozzle, valves, flow meter and any other fittings.
