The Flux F427 Sanitary Barrel Pump is specifically designed for hygienic applications, making it a perfect pumping solution for transferring food stuffs from drums and IBCs. Every component of this food grade drum pump can be stripped down, cleaned and/or sterilised with minimum effort to ensure compliance with the food processing regulations. This food transfer pump has minimal dead spots, and the drive shaft, the inner and outer tubes are made of stainless steel to eliminate the risk of bacterial growth.
Thanks to the absence of a mechanical seal, the F427 Flux barrel pump ensures will be no contamination of the liquid by shaft lubricants, and as the pumped fluid lubricates the pump shaft, there is no concern for wearing seals. Another benefit of this food grade drum pump is its lightweight construction, making it easy to move between barrels.
This Flux pump can transfer fluids containing solids up to 2mm, such as juices with pulp or soups with spices. The sanitary drum pump can also handle chemicals, light oils and fluids up to 1000 CP and it is available as an air and electric food safe pump. It’s FDA approval and 3A certificate combined with the optimal barrel emptying feature, makes the Flux F427 food grade pump a perfect solution for hygienic applications including food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
Features of the F 427 Flux Food Grade Drum Pump:
- Heavy duty, sanitary drum pump
- Ideal for dispensing from barrels and IBCs
- Suitable for transferring most low viscosity fluids including food stuffs
- All wetted parts are made of stainless steel, PTFE or ETFE
- Every component of the hygienic pump can be stripped down and cleaned and/or sterilised with a minimum of effort, there are no inaccessible voids in the pump.
- Food safe for contact acc. to EC 1935/2004 and FDA CFR 21
- Available with 3A certification to satisfy even more stringent sanitary/food safe regulations
- ATEX version available for flammable environments
- No mechanical seal
- Shaft is lubricated by the pumped fluid
- Radial shaft seals prevent the intrusion of vapours and liquid in the coupling area
- Optimum barrel emptying due to unique impellor design
- Variety of motor options available including brushless motors, commutator motors, air motors and three-phase gear motors
This Flux pump is a perfect food processing pump solution for transferring products for human consumption a from drum or IBC. The food grade drum pump is FDA approved, and there are models available with 3A Certificates
- High-quality barrel pump – Flux pumps are well known German-made barrel pumps that have been in the market for over 70 years.
- Quickly disassembled for sterilisation – The F427 stainless steel barrel pump can be quickly and easily taken apart for cleaning, and all elements in contact with the liquid can be sterilised.
- Sanitary design - The shaft and inner tube are with closed bearing and minimal dead spots to eliminate bacterial growth risk.
- Handle fluids containing solids – This hygienic pump can handle solids up to 2mm
- Approved for hygienic applications – Flux F427 barrel pump is FDA approved and available with 3A Certificate, meaning it is a suitable food processing pumps, and for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals applications.
The Flux F427 food transfer pump is made of stainless steel and can be easily stripped down to clean and sterilise components to prevent bacteria growth. The food grade electric drum pump is also FDA approved and is available with 3A certificate, meaning it is appropriate as a food processing pump and for hygienic applications.

FAQs
Put most simply, a barrel pump, is a pump connected to an immersion tube that sits within the drum with its motor located outside of the container. The pump draws up the fluid through its immersion tube and is then dispensed via a hose or pipe that is connected to its outlet.
If you have a 1000 litre IBC you will require a 1200mm tube, a 205 litre drum requires a 1000mm and if you have a smaller container 700mm and shorter tubes are available. For larger containers we can offer longer tube sets on specification
If your fluid is prone to crystallisation, then you can use the F310 or F430 models as the pump bearings are protected from wear.
The F425 model is capable of emptying 99.98% of a container's contents. This drum pump is generally selected when the liquid is particularly valuable to minimise waste.
The F426 model is capable of both mixing and pumping the liquid within the container, which is a lower cost solution when compared to a separate mixer and pump.
For liquids with a flashpoint below 50°C, we offer our Stainless Steel F400 models and Viscopower series with ATEX approved motors or Viscoflux Lite EX.
Our range includes both FDA and 3A approved hygienic models. When the viscosity is >1200cP we offer the sanitary Viscopower F570 and F580 models and the Viscoflux Mobile. If <1200cP we typically select the F427, or the F430 food grade version when pumping alcohols or foodstuff with solids.
If you are pumping one liquid or very similar liquids, you can use the F314 or F424 seal-less models, if you are pumping multiple diferent liquids or where cross contamination is not desirable use the F310 or F430 drum pumps.
To ensure you get the correct Flux spare parts, we need to identify the exact Flux pump model you have. Please provide the model and serial number found on the pump name plate.
Castle Pumps can supply all Flux pump parts detailed on the spare parts list including motor, o-ring, shaft seal, impeller, inner and outer tube worldwide.
If you are pumping one liquid or very similar liquids, you can use the F314 or F424 seal-less models provided that the materials are compatible, if you are pumping multiple diferent liquids or where cross contamination is not desirable use the F310 or F430 drum pumps.
The general rule of thumb is that for low-medium duty applications where viscosity is <250cP the F300 is sufficient. For heavy duty applications, flammable liquids and viscosities of <1200cP choose the F400. For shear sensitive fluids or viscosities that exceed 1200cP then the Viscpower is required. Upon disclosure of your application, we can confirm the best solution.
All Flux barrel and IBC pump models are available with additional accessories that we can supply as a kit should you need delivery hose, a trigger nozzle, valves, flow meter and any other fittings.
