The Boyser FMP-80 Series Peristaltic Pump is the largest of our roller operated hose pump, benefitting from wide performance capabilities. Its rugged design makes this self priming peristaltic pump extremely heavy duty and capable of efficient operation in the harshest of environments where other pumps fail due to issues such as dry running damage, clogged valves and seal failures.
The FMP-80 is more than just a higher duty model than the FMP-70, it has been heavily industrialised. It benefits from a hinged door, allowing component inspection and hose replacement to be more easily undertaken.
One of the largest benefits of the peristaltic hose pump design is that the hose is the only wearing part, which is easy to clean and replace, making it simple and low cost to maintain relative to other pumping technologies. Thanks to its internal hose being available in a variety of materials, its ability to handle solids, fluids with little moisture and shear sensitive mediums these Boyser pumps are extremely versatile. The wide range of applications that it is suitable for include oily sludge, bilge water, oils, shear sensitive liquids, slurries with solids present, dewatering, drainage of tanks, emergency pump leakages, food stuffs, acids, lime milk and muds.
As a roller operated peristaltic hose pump rather shoe operated, the Boyser FMP generates less friction during use. This means that the user is able to benefit from improved energy consumption, a lower starting torque providing a smoother operation and making it easier to adjust speed. It also has simpler hose maintenance as it doesn’t require lubrication.

Inline Pulsation Dampener | Ensures a continuous, smooth flow for the accurate use of flow meters and pressure switches. By eliminating vibrations and hammering, operation is relatively quiet and working life is increased. |
Hose Leakage Sensor | Should the only wearing part of the pump (the hose) fail, the sensor can shut off the pump or activate an alarm to allow the situation to be addressed quickly. This makes the pump ideal for remote installations or where hazardous fluids are handled. |

Castle Pumps received an enquiry from a metal foundry in America. They were looking to pump water containing up to 2 ¼ lb of foundry dust per gallon of water, making the fluid quite abrasive. This was to replace an existing pump on site that had come to its end of life and they wanted something lower maintenance. It also meant that ideally it would fit into the 2 ½” pipework already installed. and run 5 days a week, 24 hours a day.

Peristaltic pumps are part of the rotary positive displacement pump family. They are made up of just two components; a rotor that has a number of rollers or a "shoe" attached and a flexible internal hose/tube fitted inside a circular pump casing. As the rotor turns, the attached rollers compress the tube where the fluid is contained, and that continuous motion forces the liquid from the pump's inlet to its outlet.
The key difference is the component attached to the pump’s rotor which compresses the hose as the rotor turns. Roller peristaltic pumps generate less friction with up to 30% less power consumption and a lower starting torque for a smoother operation and easily adjustable speed. Shoe peristaltic pumps offer higher pressure capabilities for more heavy duty requirements.
The beauty of the peristaltic pump design it it's single wearing part; the inner hose. Whilst other pumps have seals, impellers, bearings, gaskets and coupling bushes to maintain over time, peristaltic pumps only have to replace the inner hose. This combine with the absence of a mechanical seal means that they can also run dry indefinitely without risk of damage.
Ensuring compatibility with the fluid being pumped is a vital part of peristaltic pump specification to avoid swelling, erosion and even melting of the inner hose. To ensure you get the correct part, we need to identify the exact Boyser pump model you have. For the AMP, FMP and RBT series we need to know the model number, which can be found on the pump’s name plate on the pump body, and the material of the hose.
