The Azcue BTR Vertical Immersion Pump is fitted with a fixed cutting disk and sharp impeller designed to grind and obliterate any solids. With a grinding capability of up to 8000-9000kg/hr accepting solids up to 30mm in size, this vertical cantilever pump is ideal for applications involving viscous, dirty mediums such as sewage, food, fish waste and those with a similar consistency.
Being a vertical line shaft pump, it means that this model's its motor is separated from the pump head, keeping it above liquid level. As the pump head is located within the fluid, vertically immersed pumps maintain a flooded suction. They are therefore ideal for applications where typically a self-priming pump is required, such as the emptying of tanks, reservoirs, sumps and wells require. This is why they are widely referred to as vertical sump pumps. As this model of Azcue pump is contained into the tank where is fluid is stored, it is well suited to applications where space saving is required or where if the pump was located outside the suction distance would be too long.
The immersed column of the BTR vertical shaft pump is oil filled for mechanical seal cooling, allowing fluids up to 80°C to be handled. Vertical column pumps are a good alternative to submersible pumps for the handling of such high temperature fluids as not only are their seals located outside the fluid protecting them from degrading, they are not affected by the NPSH issues that can occur when pumping a liquid so close to its boiling point.
The bottom bearing lubrication enables dry running of the vertical column pump, meaning that start-stop float switches are not required.

The BTR Vertical Immersion Pump is manufactured by Azcue Pumps. As the official UK Agent of Azcue Pumps, Castle Pumps are a leading Bombas Azcue supplier in the UK with unrivalled technical knowledge. Azcue Pumps are a European manufacturer with over 100 years’ experience in type approved pumps for marine and offshore applications. Today their pumps are installed in more than 10,000 vessel builds. Whilst originally developed for the marine market, Azcue Pumps’ reliability in applications that depend upon the safety and operation of a ship saw them become a desirable product in industrial applications involving water, fuels and lubricants.
One of the key benefits of the BTR vertically immersed centrifugal pump like the other models in the Azcue range, is that is benefits from interchangeable parts for reduced on board stockholding. We guarantee supply of spares for 15 years from model discontinuation for long term pump servicing., saving the user from having to prematurely replace a pump that just needs maintenance.
Azcue BTR cantilever pumps are cast, machined and assembled at their foundry in Spain. Each pump is manufactured to order and designed to fit your process, resulting in greater efficiency and lower overall lifetime cost in terms of wear and energy consumption. Before leaving the factory, pumps are individually tested to confirm performance meets the requirements set out in your enquiry.
The Azcue BTR Vertical Immersion Centrifugal Pumps has a cutting impeller, which rather than enabling the passing of solids like vortex impellers, they have sharp edged, scissor like vanes designed to grind and obliterate any solids before they enter the pump. This make this vertical cantilever pump ideal for dirty fluids containing solids in applications where the pump is better immersed into the fluid such as:

FAQs
Otherwise known as a vertical column pump, this is where there is an elongated shaft to separate the motor above the fluid from the pump that is immersed in the fluid.
As the pump head is within the fluid, vertically immersed pumps maintain a flooded suction. They are therefore ideal for applications where typically a self-priming pump is required, such as the emptying of tanks, reservoirs, sumps and wells.
The main difference is that whilst a submersible pump's full assembly including the motor is submerged in the fluid, with a vertical column pump, only the pump is and the motor remains dry above it.
