Castle Pumps have been supplying FDA, 3A and EHEDGC approved hygienic dosing pumps to the food, drink, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries for over 15 years. Unlike many companies who specialise in a specific pump type, we represent a variety of technologies meaning that we don’t have to make our sanitary pumps “fit” your process, meaning that you get the right pump, not just one that does the job. Getting the wrong pump for your process can result in inconsistency in the finished product, crushed solids, clogging, excessive wear, loss of productivity, wastage of costly product or at worst, contamination.

The FDA states that in order to be food grade, the food contact surfaces of a hygienic pump need to be smooth, free of cracks and crevices, non-absorbent, cleanable, non-toxic and corrosion resistant to ensure that no food or bacteria can harbour and contaminate the product.

Clean in Place (CIP) is the ability for a pump to be easily taken apart, cleaned and sterilised without having to remove it entirely from the installation. This is of high importance for food processing pumps and those used in pharmaceutical industries where the product is to be used for human consumption.

Food grade pumps are constructed of materials that the FDA states are safe for human consumption. This is usually sufficient, however we also supply 3A and EHEDG models where the actual pump design has been reviewed and certified as meeting hygiene standards safe for use as a food industry pump.

All products that we offer for food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals are as a minimum constructed of FDA approved materials for human consumption. Where more stringent approval is required, we also offer pumps certified to 3A and EHEDG.

A dosing pump, otherwise known as a metering pump, is designed to very precisely deliver a specific quanitity of fluid to a container, tank or fluid stream at controlled intervals.

Dosing pumps are able to provide precise metering through their smooth, pulsation free operation and ability to achieve extremely low flow rates whilst maintaining accuracy.
