Food transfer pumps for safe, hygienic handling & processing
Castle Pumps have been supplying food grade pumps to the food, drink, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries for over 10 years, ensuring you get the right pump for your application, not just one that does the job. Unlike many companies who specialise in a specific pump type, we represent a variety of technologies, with air and electric food processing pump models available, meaning that we don’t have to make our food transfer pumps “fit” your process. Getting the wrong pump for your food industry process can result in inconsistency in the finished product, crushed solids, clogging, excessive wear, loss of productivity, wastage of costly product or at worst, contamination.
From viscous, solid laden sauces to shear sensitive creams to fruit juices or wine, our food industry pumps do the job. So, whether it's dosing specific quantities of ingredients, transferring the finished product into containers or removing any waste product, let us specify the right food safe pump solution for you.

FAQs
Pumps used for handling products for human consumption need to be food grade and are commonly constructed of stainless steel or other non-contaminating materials. Common types of food industry pumps include flexible impeller, peristaltic, lobe and AODD pumps.
The FDA states that in order to be food grade, the food contact surfaces of a food transfer pump need to be smooth, free of cracks and crevices, non-absorbent, cleanable, non-toxic and corrosion resistant to ensure that no food or bacteria can harbour and contaminate the product so that it remains safe for human consumption.
Clean in Place (CIP) is the ability for a pump to be easily taken apart, cleaned and sterilised without having to remove it entirely from the installation. This is of high importance for food processing pumps and those used in pharmaceutical industries where the product is to be used for human consumption.
Food grade pumps are constructed of materials that the FDA states are safe for human consumption. This is usually sufficient, however we also supply 3A and EHEDG models where the actual pump design has been reviewed and certified as meeting hygiene standards safe for use as a food industry pump.
All products that we offer for food are as a minimum constructed of FDA approved materials for human consumption. Where more stringent approval is required, we also offer food industry pumps certified to 3A and EHEDG.
