Past Projects

To demonstrate our experience in working with clients in the marine and offshore markets, we have compiled a number of interesting case studies on past projects. Reading these examples will give you an insight into the multitude of applications for which we specify and supply pumping solutions to a wide range of companies in the marine industry.

Just a snippet of our marine case studies!

If you’re a shipyard, a vessel owner, a shipping company or a marine engineer to name a few, then we’ve been supplying companies like you with pumping solutions for over 15 years. To give you an idea of the multitude of different applications we have specified pumps for and some of the requirements we've had to meet, here are some interesting past projects that we’ve worked on.

Ship Repairer – Emergency Seawater Pump Replacement

2 x Azcue MO Side Channel Pumps

A well-known ship repair company were in urgent need of a seawater circulation pump for a subsea support vessel, whose existing, cheap pumps had suddenly failed just a year after installation.

Thanks to our stockholding, we were able to specify a pump and get it delivered to the customer the next working day to avoid any downtime whilst the vessel docked.

Shipyard – Ballast Water Pumps

Ballast Pump Case Study

2 x Azcue VM Vertical Inline Pumps

A customer was upgrading the ballast water system on board a vessel to meet the IMO’s Ballast Water Management regulations.

We supplied two space saving vertical inline pumps complete with electric priming pump to ensure complete emptying of the ballast tank when required.

Ferry Operator – Low Sulphur Fuel Pump

Marine Gas Oil Conversion Case Study

1 x Azcue BT-LV Vertical Screw Pump

A ferry operator undergoing a fuel conversion to meet the 2020 sulphur limit required a pump with Lloyds approval in 3-4 weeks in order to meet their dry-docking programme.

Despite this extremely tight schedule, we supplied a screw pump compatible with the lower viscosity fuel in 3 ½ weeks, complete with marine certification thanks to Azcue’s fast track production facility.

Marine Dredging Company – Seawater Dredging Pump

1 x Azcue CA Self-Priming Centrifugal Pump

A customer contacted us looking for a pump for transferring seawater. As the pump was to be used in a dredging application, the seawater being transferred had small amounts of sand content.

To account for the presence of sand, we specified a centrifugal pump with an impeller that allows the passage of small solids and a hard-faced mechanical seal to cope with the fluid’s abrasive nature.

World’s Largest Container Ship – Boiler Feed Pumps

2 x Azcue AN Long Coupled Centrifugal Pumps

We received an urgent enquiry from a shipping company that needed two boiler feed pumps for on board the world’s largest container ship in 2012.

Compete with seal cooling system to handle the temperature of boiler feed water, we supplied two, type approved centrifugal pumps in 9 working days and dispatched to the vessel’s next port call.

Shipping Company – Seawater Sanitation Pumps

2 x Vertical Immersion Pump c/w Vortex Impeller

A shipping company upgrading their 15 year old seawater sanitation system needed a pump to empty a sump where the seawater and waste solids collected.

We specified two vertical immersion pumps to be used in the sumps in a duty/standby operation to prevent downtime, complete with vortex non-clogging impellers to handle the soft solids.
