Enquiry
Castle pumps received an enquiry from a new customer in the UK that wanted a pump to deliver polyurethane liquid resin to machines within an existing production line. They required a high viscosity pump that could reliably transfer the viscous fluid as this is a vital part of the production line.
Solution
Due to the viscosity of the fluid we initially went for a flexible impeller pump but after further investigation we found that the viscosity of the fluid to be much higher than initially expected. With this new information we selected a gear pump with a larger capability to transfer thick fluids up to 250,000 SSU.
The selection of the gear pump was made to ensure the pump would reliably transfer the fluid because the pump links a vital stage in the production line and without it the factory would cease to operate. The inclusion of a variable speed drive allows the customer to run the pump as slow as 200 RPM providing versatility to a very reliable pump. We provided the pump within 4 working weeks excluding the Christmas break inclusive of motor, baseplate and variable speed drive.
